GRANDfamilies
Are you raising a relative’s child or close family friend?
GRANDfamilies is a support, advocacy, educational and crisis intervention program designed to provide information and support to kinship families so that the needs of safety and permanency for children can be met.
Over 21,000 children in the state of Utah are being raised by relatives other than their biological parent. While some of these children enter the formal child welfare system, many more are being raised by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, or adult siblings outside of the system.
GRANDfamilies provides free services to all kinship families, regardless of their involvement with child welfare.
Free services offered include:
- Case management (crisis intervention, application assistance, resource referrals, 1-on-1 educational support, and more)
- Psycho-educational classes for caregivers, adolescents, and children
- Friend 2 Friend events
- Clinical services
GRANDfamilies is an Exemplary Program!
In 2023, GRANDfamilies was the first program in the country to receive the Exemplary Program designation through the Grandfamilies and Kinship Support Network. Visit the GKSN site to learn more about this designation.
