Career Ladder Courses
The Child Care Resource Agency ~ Metro (CCRAM) Professional Development Department offers many virtual and a few in-person Career Ladder courses throughout the state each quarter, to anyone interested in early childhood issues and education. Courses cover a wide variety of topics including introductory child development, guidance and classroom management, working with families, and specific age groups of children. The classes focus on improving the quality of care for children and increasing the knowledge of childcare providers.
The Office of Child Care (OCC) and the Utah Registry for Professional Development (URPD) provide a wide variety of courses to support professional development for Utah’s early learning and youth professionals through the Care About Childcare site. Those that choose to participate can explore the list of current online courses and register for a profile and for Career Ladder Courses on the Care About Childcare website.

Professional Development Incentive Information
The Professional Development Incentive (PDI) System is a voluntary statewide professional development program for early childhood educators employed in a childcare setting. The goal of the incentive is to increase the quality of childcare by providing caregivers with ongoing education and training. The program moves caregivers up on the Career Ladder with an incentive awarded for each level completed.
The courses offered through Child Care Resource Agency ~ Metro are designed and approved by the Utah Registry for Professional Development. To learn more about the courses or the PDI system please contact our Professional Development department at 801-326-4403 or
Child Development Associate Credential
The CDA is a national credential for individuals working children ages birth to five. Contact our Professional Development Department for more information
Policy for Cancelling & Rescheduling Classes
How to Register for a Make Up Session
View transcripts or certificates to see which course needs to be made up in order to complete the course. View the current Course Schedule to determine if and when the course is being offered and call the Professional Development Department at 801-326-4303 to request a make-up course session.
Canceling a Course
If the host CCRAM agency determines that a course will be canceled:
Individuals may contact and notify the host CCRAM agency of their inability to attend 48 hours prior to the start time of the first session of the course to be issued a refund. If the course was paid for by the individual, a refund will be issued to the individual. If the course was paid for by the individual’s program, a refund will be issued to the program.
Individual Cancellation – If an individual determines they are unable to attend a course prior to the start time of the first session of the course:
Individuals may contact and notify the host CCRAM agency of their inability to attend 24 hours prior to the start time of the first session of the course to be issued a refund. If the course was paid for by the individual, a refund will be issued to the individual. If the course was paid for by the individual’s program, a refund will be issued to the program.
Child Care Resource Agency ~ Metro Course Cancellation Due to Weather, Disaster Policy or Low Enrollment:
Child Care Resource Agency ~Metro (CCRAM) will only cancel classes due to extreme weather, disaster or low enrollment. Please call or text 801-707-0265 to inquire whether classes have been cancelled due to weather or disaster.
Every attempt will be made by a CCRAM staff member to notify class participants by text, call or e-mail that a class has been canceled due to low enrollment. The decision to cancel classes because of weather or disaster will be made before 4:00 pm on weekdays and 7:30 am on Saturday. The decision to cancel classes because of low enrollment will be made at least 24 hours prior to the first day of the course. Classes cancelled due to extreme weather or disaster will be rescheduled as soon as possible. The participant will be notified by text, call or email when the makeup class is rescheduled.
