Kaprena and Boone

Thank you for opening our book and reading our story. We know there is nothing simple about what you're doing. We admire the choice you're making and pray you find peace.

We both work as family therapists half the week. When one is working, the other is homeschooling Dominic (8) and Lily (5) with help from Tuesday, the poodle. Our lives involve lots of music, dancing, outside adventures, church activities, and reading books as a family. We both have huge, loving, extended families. Above all, we strive to live Christ centered lives. The 4 of us love each other deeply and have so much love to give to a baby. Kaprena loves being a mother and a wife more than anything else in the world. She also finds her work as a trauma-focused therapist deeply meaningful.

She LOVES to write music, sing, play the piano, violin and guitar. Music is a big part of her life! She also loves spending time with her sisters that live close, hosting parties, hiking, participating in her large homeschool group, yoga, listening to audiobooks, snuggling her babies, developing healthy recipes, thrifting, and long walks in nature. 

Boone is her very best friend. She found him in 2019 and they were married the next year. After experiencing a prior divorce, it makes her appreciate their love all the more. He is the greatest human she knows.   

Kaprena loves her people fiercely, and is not afraid to show it. She will shower you with gifts, spend hours composing and producing a unique song for you, give her weekend to care for your kids, or hold you tightly as you cry for hours. She will make you feel it. She is also the best mother I know. She is highly energetic and capable, but also wise, and she is always seeking to improve herself. She is always changing, in the best sense of the term. I am so happy she chose me to come along for her life journey, and feel blessed to have her as my partner to raise another child together.

Boone spent much of his early life on naval bases, including several years in Guam and Italy. He inherited his parents' love for travel and went on to study anthropology in college, allowing him to research humanitarian efforts in several  African countries. He deeply enjoys his work as a family therapist, but his favorite job is being a stay-at-home dad for half of the week. He loves thinking up quirky homeschool lessons, doing all the different character voices in books, and teaching the kids new wrestling moves. In his spare time he loves reading classic novels, fishing, camping, and occasionally acting in local films.

Boone is the gentlest soul you will ever meet. His ability to be himself so completely makes those around him feel safer. He is wicked smart, very curious and always learning something. He is our family's peacemaker. It's corny but I'm gonna say it: He completes me. I wish everyone had a Boone in their life. The world would be a much happier place.  

Dominic is the cuddliest dude! He loves deeply and is a fierce friend. He loves scootering, Pokemon cards, Legos, Star Wars and playing with his cousins. He can sit down and read graphic novels for hours and is currently reading Harry Potter with Boone. He is lucky to have two dads that love him very much: Daddy Andy (bottom right) and Daddy Boone (step dad). Daddy Andy lives close and is very present in Dominic's life.

Lily has a joyful, loud, enormous personality and we love it! She is the life of every party; dancing, singing, and cracking jokes. She enjoys dressing up as both princesses and villains with her cousins. This past Halloween she chose to be Lord Voldemort. She charms everyone she meets and knows no strangers. The world is her stage! She is over the moon to get to be a big sister (hopefully) soon!

Kaprena's parents are the most playful and loving grandparents. Any baby joining the this family will be doted upon, spoiled and adored (especially by the aunties!) and will have many cousin playmates. Kaprena has 6 sisters and 3 brothers. 3 of her siblings were adopted through foster care. Her fam is fun, faithful, musical, hard working, and love a big family party! They have many long-standing holiday traditions. They enjoy spending time together on the 9 acre family ranch, exploring and riding Papa's horses. 14 grandkids and counting!

Boone has two brothers and two sisters. We are lucky to live very close to much of Boone's immediate and extended family which is very tight-knit. His family loves to travel together all over the world! When the fam gets together there is much joking, dancing, karaokeing, movie quoting and cooking. One of their favorite family traditions is to gather up discarded Christmas trees, let them dry out, and then have a huge bonfire in July down at their 40 acre ranch and dance around the flames to N'SYNC Christmas music. There are 5 grandkids and counting on this side. 

We like our home to be bright and open. We are intentional about how much stuff we have so we don't feel like most of our life is spent cleaning. We'd rather be spending time together! We love our "smallish" town close to the mountains and can see the snow cap from our windows. Our neighborhood is perfect for scootering/biking, with wide streets and friendly neighbors. At Christmas time our neighbors deliver treats almost nightly. With our local homeschool group, co-op, church friends, and cousins close by, we are never lacking for friends and community. We feel truly blessed and supported!

We knew before we were even married that we wanted to adopt some day. The miracle of adoption changed Kaprena's life when, as a teenager, her family adopted a Hispanic sibling trio. She has known since then she would also adopt someday. After meeting and falling in love, Boone soon caught hold of the dream, too. Even though we know we are not perfect parents or people, we would use all our therapeutic training, all the love in our hearts, and all the faith in our souls to give your baby their best, and fullest life. We do not know you by name, but we are praying for you as you make this big decision.
