Allison Sheffield, SSW – Adoption Specialist
Allison Sheffield is a licensed Social Service Worker (SSW) and graduated from the University of Utah with her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in family life education. She is a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner through Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross of The Connected Child. TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. Allison came to Children’s Service Society as an intern and started working shortly after that in the Grandfamilies children’s group. She then worked as a Parent Educator in the Parents in Action home visitation program. As she has worked in all three of the Support Service programs, Allison has enthusiasm for the services that Children’s Service Society provides supporting families and caregivers in Utah.
As the Adoption Specialist at Children’s Service Society she has worked extensively with adoptive parents as well as working with expectant parents and clients in the connections program. She has experience with domestic infant adoptions, foster care adoptions, open adoption, special needs, international, transracial, and kinship adoption. She has also facilitated support groups for Adoptive Parents, Adult Adoptees, and Birth Parents. She is an advisory board member for United for Adoption. Allison is passionate about advocating for ethical adoption services as well as providing support for families in the adoption community throughout their entire adoption process and post adoption.
In her spare time, Allison loves playing with her two young children, being outdoors, camping, and watching movies.
