Lyn Barker – Quality Improvement Coordinator
Lyn brings over 35 years of experience in fields related to providing quality care for children, including 15 years in her current position as Quality Improvement Coordinator for Care About Child Care at Children’s Service Society. She received her education in Child Development at Westminster College and the University of Utah. She brings years of experience in the child care field as a family home child care provider and also as director and executive director in centers located in the Salt Lake Valley. She also established and operated a not for profit corporation for the purpose of administrating the federal food program for family home child care providers.
Lyn’s diverse experience is well suited to her current responsibilities, assisting those interested in becoming licensed family child care providers by guiding them through the licensing process, their initial training, administrating start-up grants and being a positive support during the first year of their new profession. She is always thinking and implementing new ideas to support those who are new to this field. As a strong advocate for quality child care, she is aware of the changes and challenges providers face and she is up-to-date on resources that will make a difference in providers and children’s lives. She oversees the Coaching and CDA programs to support existing child care providers in their professional development.
